The glasses have been chosen as the symbol. The idea of clinking glasses with a stranger does not seem strange at a western society wedding. There is a routine to follow at strategic moments within various social situations and this is no different at commemorative meal occasions.

Anyone outside the situation who finds this strange may conclude that the people observed are from a different social system.
